Does a UK Pound sign show up as a pound sign or as a dollar sign for people in USA?

They are different but people in America seem to know only something, not everything, about America and hardly anything about rest of the world!

By default all computers are installed with an American keyboard Country Code 001 = dialing code The UK keyboard code is 044 = dialing code this information is held in a system file for each country and is configured at time of OP install. To get a GB pound sign on an American keyboard you can use the ALT key and the numeric keypad NOT the numbers at the top of the keyboard to generate the ASCII code 156 which is the pound sign. Hold down the ALT key and on the numbers keypad on the right type 156 then let all the keys up. This will put the pound sign wherever the cursor is on the page. You can use numbers from 32 up to 255 to generate all characters on the keyboard this way ie: ALT 49 = 1 & ALT 65 = A. Have fun

If you mean like on a website it should be the pound sign. And the English pound sign along with the American dollar sign come up looking like what you have typed. I hope this makes sense to you lol.

Yes they look the same and the key is the same on the keyboard too.

Your keyboard must be set to the wrong location go to Start > Settings > Control Panel > Keyboard > Input Locales > Click Add and select English USA and remove English UK from the list

The £ sign is Shift 3 and the $ sign is Shift 4 on most keyboards & it doesn't matter whether you are in America/UK/ or anywhere else on the planet..
