Why isn't my computer in Vista settings?

How do i take my vista computer back to factory settings?

  • i do not have a reload disk or a backup disk but i want to take the computer back to the original factory settings. any idea how i can do this?

  • Answer:

Turn off your System Restore and your system. On turn on press Ctrl + F10 together before the logo shows and hold for a few seconds.5+ for an Acer. For DELL AND HP.Press Ctrl +F11.Others you will have to go on a forum of the make and ask.You have to get the press and hold before the logo shows just right so be prepared to try a few times.

When the computer starts up from being completely powers down look for an option to press a key for recovery. This should access the recovery partition and reinstall EVERYTHING to factory defaults. Most Dell, Hp, and Toshiba laptops have that option. Google your specific make and model number and "factory defaults" or "acces recovery partition" and you should find something.

unless there's a recovery drive which you can get into on the laptop to recover; i'm afraid you must have a vista cd to boot from and reformat the machine. most new laptops come with the whole o/s on a recovery drive; check my computer if it exists.

System Restore. I don't think you need the CD-Rom for it. Your computer saves a little area on your hard drive to do this so the CD-Rom isn't necessary. Just restore your system back to day 1.

You need the system restore disk that came with the computer. If you can't find it, contact the manufacturer and see if you can get (buy) one from them. There is no other way.
