an e-mail address is a name plus @yahoo.com or @aol.com etc. etc. you can leave short messages, exchange information with co-workers etc. a screen name is an id normally used on aol instant messanger but it could also be used on yahoo messanger or msn messanger. a screen name with aol is also immediate. if we are both online at the same time we can have a conversation almost as if we were on the phone with e-mail the person could get the message right away or possibly days, weeks or months later depending on how often they check their messages hope that that helped!
