Are Notepad and Wordpad completely safe to type on--that is, free of the disappearing text problem?
-
"fore-cautioning", that this question may be a bit of an involved one, as well as one needing a bunch of detailing here...but I think it's a worthwhile enough one to pose in case someone has any explanation of the matter all to share. The "glitch"? I'm assuming many many have had the problem: while text is being typed, suddenly it all just disappears . Blank space where your text whether short or long, had been. Discussions seem to say it's most likely because of some kind of accidental hitting of certain pairs of keys at the same time...probably some pairs toward the right side of the keyboard, but so far no I've run into one seems to know which ones (it doesn't seem to be anything special involving the delete key). Personally I've been trying to remember when I expect one of my posts or other writing will be too lengthy for me to want to risk losing it, to go somewhere special to type it for later transfer. One place--the one I consider foolproof--is my Gmail account, since typing there in Compose email, lets their feature of separately saving an updated draft of it every few seconds for you, kick in. On advice from some others I've discussed the disappearing text with, I also often use Wordpad or Notepad. They don't appear to save the typing like Gmail does, but somehow I think I haven't yet noticed losing anything I've type. But maybe that's because haven't used Notepad or Wordpad too much yet to give the disappearing problem all that much chance to happen. But again, several others have told me they go to one of those or something similar, for safety during their typing....which of course they afterward simply copy over to the forum posting box or wherever else was its intended destination in the first place. So, what I'm wondering is, is whether for some reason Notepad and/or Wordpad "really" are safe places to type in that way? If so, is it because the problem of losing text during its writing on some places such as especially some forums, is an internal problem from the website instead of just a pc/keyboard type of glitch? (Thanks in advance for any light you can shed.)
