How to write Windows registry script?

• I want to make a partition on my hard drive that includes programs and windows files ( approx 15 GB) and the rest of the disk in other partition so I can use that free space for documents and stuff. But the question is, is it possible to make changes to the registry so it can change the destination of the desktop folder location? example before in explorer : C:\Users\user\Desktop before in the registry: %USERPROFILE%\Desktop --------------------- after in explorer: D:\Desktop the question is what i should write in the registry for the new location of the desktop destination?
