Why cant I see certain characters on my computer?

Microsoft Windows XP/2000 has many foreign language choices included in the systems. Users simply need to install and set up them properly. There is a MultiLanguage User Interface (MUI) for XP. It allows the user interface language of the operating system (i.e. menus, dialogs, etc.) to be changed according to the preferences of individual users. This article shows you how to install and set up foreign language support in Windows XP/2000. We will use Chinese as an example to show you how to install the MUI and then set up a language. To install MUI you can follow the procedure described below. Click on Start and go to Control Panel Double click Regional and Language Options Click on the Languages tab Check Install files for East Asian languages if necessary and then click apply (If necessary insert the Windows XP installation CD. Your system will reboot afterwards) Once the MUI is installed in the user's PC, you may set up a specific language as follows: Click on Start and go to Control Panel Double click Regional and Language Options Click on the Languages tab Click the "Detail" button to select the "Default input language". On the "Advanced" tab, Select "Chinese (PRC)" as the language to match the language version of the non-Unicode programs you want to use. This is a very important step. Without this step, Biblioscape can't display Chinese correctly. (After clicking the OK button, Windows may prompt you to insert your Windows XP/2000 installation CD. Insert the CD-ROM and click OK button.) Now, you can view and input Chinese in all applications that support multiple languages.
