How Do You Buy A Domain Name Outright?

If the domain name(s) are taken, how do i approach the owner(s) of the domains that I want to buy from them?

  • Hello I have just registerd a company and I found out from www.godaddy.com that the domain name(s) I want are already registered by other people. I also typed in the URL and the message that came out was: This is the placeholder for domain xxxxxxxxx.com. If you see this page after uploading site content you probably have not replaced the index.html file. This page has been automatically generated by Plesk Server Administrator. What does this mean? In addition, www.godaddy.com also charges about US$50 to help me ask the owners if they are interested in selling their domain name(s) to me. Has anyone had used this service before? Is it useful to use this agency service? What are the pitfalls of using this type of service? How do I make sure the domain name(s) can be transferred / sold to me legitimately? In addiition, I want to make sure their international domains are also owned by myself, eg .com.uk .com.au .com.th .com.my Thank you.

  • Answer:

Use a "whois" program to find out who the registrant contact is and try to contact them on your own. I would not pay the $50 to have someone else do this. Also the page you are seeing when you load up the page is a automatic page made by the "plesk" program that a lot of people use to set up their web hosting accounts. It sounds like the owner of the domain has a bad web page. The who is service from my domain registrar is good, its about what you would get from GoDaddy. Also if you are going to register from GoDaddy check out my web registrar as they offer the same service for a few bucks cheaper. http://www.TemeculaValleyDomains.net (it really is the same service.)

You'll have to navigate trough a lot of sites, but I think you'll manage. This is my domain, and see how easy is to find the contact info, even if there are information in other languages (just in some cases): http://www.aboutus.org/GeneraLitati.net You can use this tool to find out if other tld's are taken: http://whois.domaintools.com/generalitati.net (right middle side). Also you can find some important info. http://www.alexa.com/data/details/main?url=google.com

Inorder to get the whole info regarding the domain name you wanted but unluckily owned by some others: In http://www.domain-name-register-store.com/ in domain register link, there is an option "click here for info". Through that you get the complete info about the site with help of the Whois database. You get the owner, the registered date, expiry date etc... It is easy and reliable. Hope It Helps Vera. http://www.domain-name-register-store.com/

Hello, If the name you want is taken, then check the whois information. You can then find out the contact information of the owner. I would recommend that you contact them yourself. This will save money/fees. If you want to make sure the domain will be transferred, then you can go through an escrow service. There are several companies that will provide this for you.
