Java plug in not working on Safari web browser despite already install the java plug in?

  • Hi, I install the Safari web browser on my windows XP system because I heard it was pretty good browser plus getting tried on Internet Explorer the way I was getting errors a lot too. I still have my Internet Explorer too. After I install it I went over to pogo.com to play some games on Safari and I went to start playing it say that java is not install need to install it now so I install it I thought maybe I needed a update on it so I went back to pogo.com after that and I still get this depsite alread install it. Is anybody that got this Safari web browser getting this on pogo and how to fix it? I like the Safari web browser but I don't want to remove my Internet Explorer after this. Please help me if you know how to fix it. I report to apple about this too but still getting it after I report this too. Thanks, :)

  • Answer:

It sounds like you don't have the Java Runtime Environment (JRE) installed properly. If you go to www.java.com you can download and install the JRE, which in turn will install the plugin. Java is a bit confusing. There is both a runtime environment and a development kit. I have found that if you install the development kit on Win XP, the JRE (and web plugin) does not always install properly. The other thing you might be experiencing is a versioning problem. The game you are playing might require a new version of Java than what is installed on your machine. The most current version of Java is 6.

i'm having the same problem - java plug-in will not work on safari on windows xp platform. going to java.com, the jre seems only compatible for certain browsers - and safari is not listed as one of them. maybe the pc version of safari is so new that java hasn't caught up yet?

Sounds like you need to update your Java plug in for Safari. IE is CRAP - your alternative browser should be Firefox.
