Why is a computer slow, even after restore?

Why did my computer do do an automatic system restore?

  • I left my computer on while I was at Busch Gardens today. I just got back and my computer was turned off but not the monitors, suggesting it was shut down rather than the power going out (if the power went out the monitors would be off too). When I turned if back on it said it had a failed system restore attempt to March 2nd and couldnt complete it due to an improper shut down. Why did my computer turn off and why the hell did it try and do an automatic system restore? I didnt do anything to my computer before I left and I have some free virus protection software so I don't think its a virus.

My desktop was left on 'sleep' all night & when I turned it back on, system restore had set it back a few months! What the hell?! Have lost many files(even though the message said I had not lost any personal files). I have a Windows 7 desk top, any one else ever had this happen?
