What is wrong with my itunes???

What's wrong with my computer? It's going slow, iTunes won't open, and it keeps freezing.?

  • Last night the internet started going slow. Then I burned about 12 CDs, and then iTunes stopped working, so I had to CTRL + ALT + DELETE shut iTunes down. After that, iTunes wouldn't open and things were running slowly and acting oddly. So, I shut it down (properly) and went to sleep. When I woke up 10 hours later, it was actually frozen on the "Windows is now shutting down" screen (not Linux, yet). I had to hold down the power button to shut it down. What's wrong? How can I fix it? ='(

  • Answer:

This will probably speed it up a bit: -Go to start>run and type in "msconfig" -Click the startup tab -Uncheck everything except your antivirus (if any) *This makes it so less programs will start when you turn on your computer, allowing your computer to start up faster* -Now download and install ccleaner: http://www.filehippo.com/download/8df12f83ade22f96ae7abc5a72af046d/download/ -Open ccleaner and click the "Cleaner" tab -Click "Analyze" then click "Run Cleaner" -Now click the "Registry" tab and choose "Scan for Issues" then "Fix Selected Issues" *Ccleaner shouldn't take long to finish. What Ccleaner does is it finds and deletes unneeded temporary files and registry entries, saving you tons of hard drive space and allowing your computer to run faster* -By now, you should notice a difference in speed. The last thing to do would be to defrag your hard drive. There should be a program called "Disk defragmenter" in your start menu But honestly, at this point I think reinstalling Windows would be the best option. Or maybe this is a good time to make the switch to Linux? Installing Linux would definitely breathe new life into your computer There are many things that can make a PC slow: startup programs, fragged hard drive, background services and processes, etc. With Windows, your computer will gradually become slower if you don't do regular maintenance like defragging, cleaning the registry, etc, etc. But with Linux, your computer will run basically just as fast as the day you installed it. The Linux filesystem manages files better and won't frag up your hard drive The only problem you might have with Linux is you'll have to give up some of your favorite software. I'll list some Windows programs and Linux alternatives: Windows: iTunes----Linux: Rhythmbox, Amarok Windows: Windows Media Player----Linux: VLC Windows: Photoshop----Linux: GIMP Windows: Internet Explorer----Linux: Firefox Windows: Microsoft Office----Linux: Open Office Windows: Guitar Pro----Linux: Tuxguitar Windows: AIM, MSN, Yahoo----Linux Pidgin (Pidgin works with screen names for basically all instant messengers) There are many more Linux alternatives listed here: http://www.whylinuxisbetter.net/items/warez/index.php?lang= I can recommend which version of Linux would run well on your computer if you let me know how much RAM you have and what kind of processor you have. You should be able to find this by right-clicking "My Computer" and choosing "Properties."

Yeah. Go Linux as Steve says. Start off with Linux Mint 4.0 Darnya (Main Edition), its easy to install and use, and also comes with much of the software you will use preinstalled. http://linuxmint.com/download.php Good luck. LUg.

Linux Mint 11

I have no idea. Try running this program (its on your computer already) called disk cleanup. That should speed ur computer up by getting rid of some of the crap you have on it. Be care ful what you delete though.
