Ubuntu (unlike windows) comes with all of that stuff built in. It will play any type of video or audio. It will also read pdf.s just download your mp3's or mp4's and start rocking

In the terminal, type: sudo apt-get install ubuntu-restricted-extras edit: I think it's in synaptic package manager or the software center too.

First lets get your mp3s playing and videos working. Go to the application menu then go to the Accessories sub menu. You should see a app called Terminal. Click on it and a little window like a dos window will open. Now copy and paste the following command without quots. "sudo apt-get install ubuntu-restricted-extras" Press enter. Then It will ask you for your password. Enter it and press enter. Now ubuntu will connect to the internet and download all the files you need to play mp3s and videos. (You can use rhythembox to listen to music and torem ) Now on to flash. http://www.psychocats.net/ubuntu/flash This tutorial tells how to install flash step by step. After installing flash youtube should be working fine along with all the other online video sites. If you are still having trouble ask again. Cheers!
