How can I install MSN on Linux?

I am using LINUX - UBUNTU 8.04 And I can not install MSN Messenger. Any ideas why and how to install it?

  • Answer:

the real Windows Live Messenger client won't work on Ubuntu. (unless some major work has been done on Wine, the 'run windows programs on linux' program). You can sign in to msn using "Pidgin" in the Internet menu which should already be installed (if it's not, just look in Synaptic), or if you absolutely need something that looks like msn for the sake of familiarity, then you can get aMSN, which is also in synaptic. (aMSN is not the real MSN client, it just looks like it).

MSN Messenger, being a Windows software product, will not install directly on Linux. Use Pidgin Internet Messenger if possible, and if that's not good enough, there may be a few Ubuntu tricks to get MSN going. Check the Ubuntu forums for further help.

With Ubuntu there is Pidgin. Here is the Official Ubuntu Pidgin Documentation https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Pidgin http://www.ubuntugeek.com/install-pidgin-instant-messanger-in-ubuntu.html LUg.

Linux Mint 11

You need to find MSN Mess that's compatible with Linux operating system.
