Why can I only save Bitmap images on my computer?

Everytime I try to save a Pic, it wont let me click in da little arrow, the file type will always stay as Bitmap. & the problem is that once I save an animated pic [as Bitmap] and I go to My Documents and try opening it, It wont move anymore. This didnt happen b4. Can anyone help me?

I remember this. I Right-click and save 100s of pictures from web pages everyday and every now and then the computer kinda locks into only saving in Bitmap format. Luckily there is an easy fix. You need to CLEAR OUT YOUR INTERNET CACHE. On Mozilla Firefox: Tools Options Privacy Cache CLEAR CACHE NOW (Close all your browser(s) AFTER IT IS FINISHED) For Internet Explorer: Tool Internet Options General Delete Files... (Close all your browser(s) AFTER IT IS FINISHED) WAIT for it to finish. If you have never done this it may take up to 10 minutes or longer to delete these old internet files. You may need to restart your computer also. I have not had this happen since I changed to Mozilla Firefox 2.0 browser. Internet Explorer still has issues Microsoft has not solved. Consider changing to Mozilla Firefox 2.0 and never see this issue happen again!!! There are no known issues running both browsers on your computer at the same time. You must be using Internet Explorer. A couple of choices: (1) clear out your temporary Internet files (IE's cache) (2) switch to Firefox
