How can I get the Microsoft updates that downloaded but didn't install off my hard disk drive?
-
There are 2 updates that have downloaded over 95 times on my computer. I didn't know there was a problem with them and I had Automatic Updates on. I've turned it off but these updates are taking up space on my hard drive. How can I safely remove them?

Answer:
Are you sure they downloaded more than once? I think that Windows downloads it one time and if the installation fails it continually attempts to install the same update that is already downloaded. I have had success installing the update by going to Windows Update and hiding the failed updates. Then I go to the Microsoft Download page and look up the number of the update and download it manually and it installs ok. My theory is that the original downloaded update was somehow corrupted. You can use the search box on this page to find the update that failed-http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/security.aspx?q=download&fs=producttype~%255e%2522Security%2520Patch%2522%2524&p=0&r=30&t=&s=availabledate~Descending Note-the last time I used this the updates were listed individually and I see they have an ISO image for all of the updates released on each date. Hopefully the search box still offers the individual update. Another option is to use the Microsoft Fixit tool for Windows Update and see if it corrects the problem. http://support.microsoft.com/mats/windows_update/ If you feel the updates are not important to your system you can simply hide them and Windows will not attempt to install them anymore.
