How to apply new themes in Windows XP?

Windows xp changed appearance and themes to windows classic now active window is black and can't read text

  • I have windows xp. My son changed to windows classis in appearance and themes. Now active windows and text are all black. The only thing you can see is icons. Example you can see the windows flag by start menu but not the word start. None of the x's in the corners show either. If you log in under another user everthing is fine. How did this happen and how do you fix it.

  • Answer:

go to start-->my computer-->control panel-->appearance and themes-->display. under themes, use the pull-down menu and switch to Windows XP. you can also go to the appearance tab, and change all the options there, and if you click "advanced" you can change each option. but the Themes tab is easier. if you can't see the words, highlight them with the mouse (click on the beginning of the word, and holding the left mouse button down, drag across the word. it should highlight and you can read the words.

Try your best to go to system restore. You should still be able to see after you click the start button. You can find it by clicking Start -> All Programs -> Accessories --System Tools -> Restore.
