Scope of computer sience & enginneering in present days?

How do you speed up computer after working on it for days without restarting?

  • I am connected to a remote computer via Log Me In - I use it everyday intensly - I don't want to risk shutting the computer down because sometimes I am not able to reconnect - so there is alot of rubbish building up from these long sessions - how do you speed the computer up so it behaves as if started fresh- closing programmes and files is not enough - when I open excel it slows down after a few minutes - there is nothing wrong with the program - the computer just slows down in general after being on too long - It feels like there is an overloaded process that needs to be 'cleared' and also perhaps some temporary files - what parts of the system are used when the computer is on that gets overloaded and how to you remove the load - without restarting? I am not technical and not able to describe properly I have heard of words like 'system cache' - I don't know if this is it or perhaps the computer uses an area for each session and it stores memory, key strokes and 'buzz' even if you close down programmes as if everything you worked on is still partly open
