What is an email server?

I am trying to email a photo to a friend, from my pictures folder. It tells me to put in my email server, my incoming email server.What is that--yahoo mail?? What is http, pop3, imap?? Which one do i have? Also, what is a default email? My regular email account is with yahoo mail. Thanks in advance for your help. i

If you log on to your Yahoo Email account and try to send a message via online web, then you should be able to attach a file to that message before sending. If you are attempting to use Microsoft's Outlook or Outlook Express (which are email clients), then you will need to have something other than Yahoo for emailing. You will need to have a regular Email account that comes with many of the typical ISP accounts. (That is where the email servers are located.)

You can NOT use a smtp client program like Outlook or Outlook Exoress with Yahoo mail. You need to open your mail through the web, then select the attach option. Then browse to your file to attach.
