It is possible. There are a lot of sites that do this. Test messaing over cellphones are called SMS - short Messaging Service. Lot of websites allow you to do this - for FREE or for a price. Try "SMS from computer" or similar search or yahoo, google, etc. As far as I remember www.sms.ac was one of the famous sites. In the US, t-mobile also offers free text messaing to their customers from their website. And BTW, if you use Yahoo! Messenger and your contacts have added their cell phone number added. U can txt message them right from Yahoo! messenger.
