Need a good video editor with effects that's FREE. Windows Movie Maker is bad...?

Try Blender! Blender is a free 3D Modeling and Animation Software, but also has video editing capabilities. This software is tough to learn, but the results can be absolutely stunning because you can add any 3D object you may have created with the program to the video (i.e. slo-mo bullets? use your imagination). (www.Blender.org) If you're looking towards the more simplistic end, try Wax! It pretty much fits the description you listed, and is far better than WMM. It's great for a beginner program. Perhaps the best thing about this program is that it has plenty of room to advance as you. It has tons of advance features, including the ability to plug in 3D models (remember Blender?) (http://www.debugmode.com/wax/) Also give Jahshaka a try! This program doesn't quite have the capabilities of Wax, as it focuses on visual effects more then editing. Jahshaka should be everything you need! (www.Jahshaka.org) If you want to try out some costly editing software, like Adobe Premiere or Sony Vegas, there are ways to get it for free. I can't really say much... (Hint: YouTube it) EDIT: Wax and Jahshaka should be able to reverse video... IDK about audio... you can try WavePad, a simple audio editor.
