How do you clear everything off of the search menu?

My search engine. I have DELL XP ?

Someone borrowed my computer and I don't what they did!!! When I log onto a program or go on the internet everything disappears like the search engine and everything and then I have to use the mouse and go up top and then it appears when I remove the mouse it disappears and my start menu is gone when I'm on another programs like right now it is a long site just yahoo stuff nothing about the time or battery date nothing like that PLEASE help

In the web you should press the F11 key. This will bring the web browser out of "full screen mode". It will stay in regular mode then. The start menu toolbar? It might just be OK once your browser is out of full screen mode. If not - read on. . If not, move your mouse to the very bottom of the screen - does it appear again? If yes the right click the toolbar, choose [properties] and change the setting in the properties box that says "auto hide task bar".
