How can I extract texts from a scanned document ?

Do a search on download.com for OCR software. There are some different ones out there. Try out a few and see which one you like. OCR (optical character recognition) software can extract text from a picture file or during scanning.

If you have Microsoft Office, it should already have an OCR. Just go your start menu>programs>Microsoft Office Tools (or office tools)>and open the Microsoft Office Document Scanning Application to scan and convert a new document. If you already have one scanned and saved as a .tif or .tiff file, just go into Microsoft Office Document Imaging. Once the text has been recognized, it's a one button push from the application to transfer it to a Word Doucment.

It is difficult to answer this question without knowing the file format of the document. If the document is in PDF file format and was produced with Adobe Acrobat, then you should be able to open the document and select the text in either graphic or text form. Is the file in PDF format? Do you have at least Acrobat Reader on your computer to open the PDF document?

You highlight everything you want and then right click and hit copy and then go to word and right click and select paste!

You need some software with an OCR function. OCR = Optical Character Recognition.
