I want to buy an ink-jet photo printer for £200-300. Any recommendations?

Personal choice is the HP photosmart 475. Great compact unit with built in hard disk to store the images and can print direct from SD, Memory Stick or compact flash. no pc needed.

wow you are willing to drop a mint. If you are going to be spending the case a nice high end Epson or HP. I tend to lean more towards the Epson however there is a little added maintenance.. Epsons will consistently have higher volume cartridges The ink tank system also allows you to replace only the colour that is empty as opposed to an entire Tri-colour cartridge. Epsons also come with neat little features like printing direct to CD or DVD taking all the guess work out of labeling your pirated music, movies and software.

My epsom 300 is great. 6 colours . card reader and can print on to cds, all for £100

Try www.pcpro.co.uk and check on their reports on many different printers.They recently did a test on photo printers. From much experience Lexmark are not necessarily the best printers, as you will also see from the reports. Many of the better printers are similar as far as results, only very close examination will show problems. However check running costs such as price per print. There are huge differences in these. Also some are better if used frequently (Such as any with printheads not on the cartridge) but if used infrequently will use a lot of ink in cleaning cycles etc. You probably will end up paying way under your budget
