How to start my application when device boots?

Every time I start my laptop (Windows XP SP-2) I get this error message. "Device or application disabled"

  • How do I figure out what device or application is the problem, and how do get it to go away?

  • Answer:

Go to Start and click on help and support System information View the status of hardware and software This should give you a list of all the applications and devices on your machine If there are any conflicts, you will see the software causing the problem. Look under obsolete application and device drivers

Try to remember when this started happening and what was done around that time. If you have things connected to the computer, disconnect them one by one until the message goes away ( and you determine the faulty component). If nothings hooked up, try a system restore to a time when the error message did not appear. Also, try logging into safemode under the adminstrator account and see if the problem happens, if not, then most likely the problem is being caused by faulty hardware.
