How do you boot from a USB drive from LINUX?

I want to create a Linux OS Usb stick, that has a Trucrypt boot loader and a hidden drive... possible?

  • Ok I have a computer. I have a usb stick with ubunto installed (11.10) I want ubuntu to load up off the stick and ask for a password with trucrypt with both a regular and hidden drives, so I can choose what loads up depending on the password. Is this possible?

  • Answer:

http://unetbootin.sourceforge.net/ would work if you just want a live USB. If you want to have TrueCrypt, you'll need to customize it yourself.

This is indeed possible. Essentially you create multiple boot options, one of which has your persistent storage as an encrypted filesystem Ubuntu however is not the the best OS for this. The best one is PuppyLinux; This allows multiple pupSave files, with unencrypted, low level or high level encrypted save files.

Yes it is possible. No I have not done it, only researched it too long ago to remember the details. The instructions are available on the internet.
