Why does my HP laptop hang or freeze?

Vista freeze when leave idle after 10 min *URGENT*?

• my question: 1.is it sign of a faulty hard drive?if it does how do i check it? 2.is this some kind of bug in win vista?ive have not updated my vista bcos previous update result in BSOD.ive formatted my pc since...but this freeze keeps coming no matter how many times i format. 3.heard about registry error,but i've scan using ASO3, repair and optimize it but to no avail.prob still persist 4.also heard about buggy HP Total Advisor.whenever i try to uninstall it it will freeze my laptop.similar to idle case. 5.virus scan stops at HP Total Advisor folder and freeze.so i suspect this is related to the prob. i run Windows Media Player whenever im leaving my laptop for a while to prevent it from freezing. But that is only a temporary solution. this problem is frustrating me. To the pro's out there pls help me
