How can I open a zipped pdf file that is password protected?

  • I downloaded a file that is zipped inside a folder. The file is a pdf document that is password protected. I have tried multiple programs such as WinZip and other pdf unlocking programs, but none have worked. WinZip allows me to see the contents of the zipped file but will not allow me to unzip without the password. When I use a pdf unlock program, it asks to locate the pdf file. Unfortunately, when I browse my computer to find it, it looks for files with the pdf extension. Although the file is indeed a pdf extension file, its extension is still .zip since it will not allow unzipping.

    The person who password protected it will have to give you the P/W. It was password protected for a reason so unless you know the owner, you will waste your time trying to open it.
