How to use a camcorder?

How can I use firewire cable to tranfer video from ma camcorder Sony DCR-TRV260?

  • When I plug the cable into the IEEE Firewire port, turn the camcorder on, the computer does not detect a new device, the CD comes with the cam does not have drivers for the firewire option, the manual talks briefly about the function saying u can use firewire to transfer better quality vids, blah blah, nothing on how to use it. Could it be that the port I have in the laptop is not for video transfering or somethin like that?! Need serious help here. Thanx

  • Answer:

First make sure your computer detects your firewire device. Before hooking your camcorder through firewire port go to (on your camcorder) vcr mode-press menu-select vcr set-select av/dv out.It must be off by default.you must select it on.Go to camera mode press menu-setup menu-usb stream and make sure it is selected on.Also check your firewire cable for anything that interrupts flow of data.Good Luck.
