Can be erase to recordable cd?

Can I use a CDR only for " write " to the CD and a CDRW only to erase but not write ?

  • I just bought a new drive " EMPREX ". It comes with the following CD's : Neru , Power DVD , CDR & CD/RW. I am a total novice at all this . My main purpose is to scan text of a 1000 Page novel which I have largely already written. Then to "edit" it. Then to save it. Seems like a lot of text data to keep on my hard disk. How do I check how much hard drive gigs I have ? I do not want to store too much rext on my hard drive. That is why I want to transfer it to a CD ( or many Cd's ) as permanent storage. I have been told that a read only CD ( a CDR ) is not a safe bet to save so much text . Is this true ? I have also been told that I can not edit ( maniplate the text ) on a CD/RW and that if I try , it will simply erase the entire CD. Is this true ? The program " Neru " seems incredibly a daunting task to learn and master . Is this the program where I ave many many ways of editing text to a CD R ? Appreicate answers to the above questions .

  • Answer:

A CDR is a "writable only" disk, meaning once you write to it, you can not change that info. A CD/RW is a "rewritable" disc, meaning it works just like a floppy disk. You can write and erase as many times as you want.
