How to salvage my Windows Live Movie Maker project?
-
I made a 10 minute video in Windows Live Movie Maker, and when I tried to save it in movie form (as opposed to as a project) it decided not to work. Every time I've attempted saving it, it either says there's not enough memory to save it or that one of the files is corrupt (I noticed that when I was editing, oftentimes files would register as corrupt and I would have to save and restart the program, but the files aren't actually corrupt, it's the program's fault). I watched this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1BYFcrvOxDA and tried what it suggested, and it didn't help. I also tried cutting it in half and saving each part separately, but that didn't work, either. I've essentially given up on ever getting Windows Live Movie Maker to actually save my movie. However, I spend an entire day making this movie, and I really don't want to go through the process of remaking it all over in a different program. Is there any file converter out there that will change wlmp files to wmv files (I doubt it), and if not, is it possible to copy the clips that I have already cut up from Windows Live Movie Maker and paste them into another movie editing software (preferably one available for free) so that I don't have to go through over an hour of raw footage and re-cut it all? Any help would be incredibly appreciated!

Answer:
Try cutting it into quarters and see if you can save 25% of it at a time. There's no way to change the project file extension. WLMM is notorious for being unable to access the computer resources it needs to render videos. Those of us who've used WMM since XP were mystified when Microsoft decided to completely revise Movie Maker. If you like to make videos, download and install the Vista version (6.0). I got my W7 computer 3 weeks ago and WMM 6.0 was the first software I installed. http://movies.blainesville.com/p/wmm-60-on-windows-7.html
