Change format background picture in excel?

  • I found a lot of information about how to change the format of just a picture but not a background picture. I'm using microsoft excel for mac 2011, version 14.0.0 So you can insert a background picture by going to the menu bar on top then click Format-> Sheet -> Background. When clicked background, you can navigate to your image file in your file browser and then the image gets set as a background. The problem is that the file in the background needs to be smaller and I can't find anywhere where I can change it. Cheers,

I don't think you can do this because even if you use a smaller picture for example, the picture will simply be 'tiled' across the whole sheet However, if you experiment with the original picture size by changing it in another application first, you will be able to get it to fit the important area of your sheet IT will still 'tile' across the rest of the sheet , but it may not matter to you. It makes sense because after all, having a 'background' means it is a background for the whole sheet.
