Why is Internet Explorer 7 is so slow?

Any solutions to why Internet Explorer 7.0 hangs and why it is so slow?

  • IE 7 will completely freeze from time to time. I either wait or switch to another program, then back to IE 7. Sometimes that unfreezes, but other times, it remains frozen. Sometimes clicking on a second tabbed browser- then back- helps. On occassion, I get full bars across the bottom, then a long long pause before it connects and performs the request. Google seems to work faster and freeze less often, but Yahoo freezes frequently and seems to be much slower. I have installed the IE7 from Yahoo which is "optimized" for Yahoo. So far the only "optimization" I see is that Yahoo has added a news tab. Anybody have any other ideas?

  • Answer:

Run Internet Explorer with no add-ons installed Start – All Programs –Accessories –Systems Tools – Click on “Run Internet Explorer (no add-ons)” If IE runs ok you have one or more bad add-ons. In IE tools – Programs – Click on “Manage Add-ons”. Disable all add-ons then restart. Enable one add-on and restart. If ok enable another ad-on. Repeat until you find the add-on(s) that are causing the problem. I have had problems with the following add-ons and have disabled the following: YahooBridge Class Fog Creek Software YahooBridgeLib.dll WXcom Class Yahoo! Inc. yupdctr.exe Yahoo Services Yahoo! Inc. yiesrvc.dll Yahoo IE Services Button Yahoo! Inc. yiesrvc.dll Windows Live installer???? (install with windows live toolbar) YahooBridge Class + WXcom Class I enable these two add-ons only when I run “Download ATT Yahoo Software” at http://att.software.yahoo.com/ysftc/p/att/v2/welcome I also found the Windows Live Toolbar slowed my Internet Explorer. If this does not work, uninstall IE7 with Ad/Remove programs. This will take you back to IE6. Run Windows Live OneCare “Full Service Scan” http://onecare.live.com/site/en-us/default.htm Reboot. Reinstall IE7 http://www.microsoft.com/windows/products/winfamily/ie/default.mspx

i only used it for a little bit but it looked like it was actively virus scanning each page. So your crazy high speed surfing is being made safer and slower.

IE7 is slow, have bugs and it brings viruses on your computer. I use Mozilla Firefox now, and I can say it is really professional (u can download and install it for free). U can put a lot of very usefull extensions, after a while you get used to it, IE seems a bad joke.

I'm having the same trouble. I'll be watching these answers with you to see if anyone knows what this is. I was beginning to wonder if there was something wrong with my wireless card. Does your connection seem to disconnect as well? I get interruptions when downloading from iTunes.

You only need to do a search on here to see how many people are having problems with IE7. The best thing to do is download Mozilla Firefox available from http://www.mozilla.com/ Its faster, more user friendly, easily customisable to suit your needs and no problems.

check to see if you're using the beta... if so....update to the regular version...the beta is too busy processing and sending data, that's why it hangs
