How to upgrade Internet Explorer?

  • When I logged on to Facebook today, I got a prompt requesting me to upgrade to Internet Explorer 7. Is upgrading IE necessary? Why? What will happen if I don't upgrade? Is the upgrade free?

    Yes the upgrade is necessary. Yes it is free. If you don't upgrade you may be at risk of newer threats that the older browser couldn't detect. Pro's: If you upgrade you're guaranteed to be safer with peace of mind. It may function smoother and faster. It may have tweaks to the interface that you may like. Con's: It may slow your browsing speeds and "page-load times" depending on your connection. Highly unlikely though. It'll be loads more secure. :) I think it's worth the upgrade. Definitely.

The upgrade should be free, but IE is the worst internet browser. Firefox is the most compatible with any website.

Well upgrading to IE7 is much better But in my opinion try downloading Firefox It lacks alot less than IE7

Upgrade to Internet Explorer 8 beta 1. It is really easy to update. Just follow the link here and click "download IE 8"

Nothing much will happen if you don't upgrade, but it is always good to be up to date. Here is how you upgrade: Click on this link http://www.google.com/toolbar/ie7/ if that doesent work, then copy it and paste it in you adress bar - when you get to the site it will be self explanatory from there. this is my first answer - so don't be to harsh on me if it doesn't work - lol

You can follow the prompt or go to www.microsoft.com and visit their IE related pages. Honestly, I would suggest trying out google chrome. It will import all your bookmarks, it runs faster, and is perfect for simple browsing. You'll save a ton of time with it if you give it a chance. If you do a lot more complex things, firefox might be right for you as well... just type "google chrome" or "firefox" into google.com's search engine and download one of them... The upgrade process and stability of those two browsers is very nice compared to IE, plus, if you really need IE, you can always still have a copy of it as well.

usually upgrading helps it and you can see the new features that the people put into it. but if you do not upgrade you dont need to and yes it is free. ii personally do not like internet explorer so i use google chrome or safari

The upgrade is free, but I think you'll be much, much happier updating to Firefox, Chrome, Safari, or even Opera. I can very easily compromise / steal information from someone that still uses IE, but it's much more difficult on Firefox.

Upgrades are almost always free. Especially if it prompts you. It is a short process that should only take moments and is absolutely necessary to the keeping the program's operation in top shape. I would recommend it.
