What is a hyperlink?

On a Microsoft Word document, I click on a hyperlink and it won't open; what is causing this?

  • I'm using Microsoft Office 2010 and on a MS Word document, I have some hyperlinks and the way I have to open them is by Ctrl+click. Now I did that this mourning and it will not open the hyperlink. Everytime I try to open a hyperlink, it will say: The operation has been canceled due to restrictions in effect on this computer. Please contact your system administrator. How can this problem be fixed?

    You've answered the question yourself. "contact your system administrator" The computer has been set up with some restrictions (probably in Group Policies). If you need these for your work, contact your support staff, they will assist you.

You always need to hold down CTRL and Click hyperlinks in word. If you are the system admin (The only user account) then there shouldn't be any trouble. Try right clicking office and clicking 'Run as Administrator and clicking the link.
