What could be wrong with my Firefox?

What is wrong with my mozilla firefox? please help!?

Okay, I have vista and firefox 3.0.1 if it makes a difference and my home/start up page for firefox is google.co.uk. No matter what i search for in google and no matter which result i click this always happens: say i click the fist result instead of opening the page it opens a new tab with the 'sponsored link' and wont open my results, i have to copy the web site address from the bottom of each result paste into the address bar and go that way, which is driving me crazy! I thought it could be some kind of virus so have run full scans and removed one threat- restarted my lap top and its still happening!! ive unistalled firefox and reinstalled but its still going on!! has any one any ideas, please?!?

Sound like someone jacked your hosts file. Check the hosts file it should have no entries unless you created some.
