How do I create a wonderful photo slideshow?

I want to create a photo slide show, but I do not want to do a normal photo slideshow. By now everyone does photo slide shows ... But really, these photo slideshows are boring! those are totally different from professional photo slide show! Who can tell me how to make a photo slide show equal to the photo slideshow created by professionals? Free software? Photo Slideshow maker?

Almost any video editor, including Windows Movie Maker, will allow you to import images. To change the amount of time they spend on the screen then drag them to the timeline then stretch them out to however long you want to display them for. Using a video editor allow you to use any effects and transitions it has on the images. If you want to use WMM then there are loads of things you can do with it that were never documented. Take a look at http://www.windowsmoviemakers.net/Tutorials/ for some ideas. There is also the free Photo Story - http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?id=11132 - which does much the same thing but was created for images. If you want an idea of what can be done take a look at http://www.artofthetitle.com/2008/11/25/soylent-green/ or http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AlVczvB4FQk These are the opening sequence from Soylent Green. Although made nearly 40 years ago by Chuck Braverman it's still one of the best examples of a story photo montage.
