Why is Picnik shutting down?

  • Picnik, the free online photo editor, is shutting down and they don't say why. In their FAQ say they this is why: Since joining Google in 2010, the Picnik team has been working on Picnik while helping to create photo editing magic in Google’s products. But now we get to focus on even awesomer things. Picnik will be closing its doors on April 19, 2012. Below you’ll find some frequently asked questions to help you through the shutdown process. If your question isn’t answered, visit the Forum to get more help. That doesn't really explain why exactly they're closing down, does anyone know why?

    If they joined google most likely that means google baught them out and picknik will be worked into picasa if you dont like that try pixlr .. it doesnt have the same features but its pretty good

Google has obtained acquisition of Picnik as well as other companies via merger. When a merger occurs or hostile takeover, the company changes name to its parent aka Google and is no more. After a short while of a merger, Picnik announced its closure just as many have. HP and Palm. Apple and Siri. Etc
