Advanced Formulas in Excel?
-
I've been using Microsoft Excel much more in the past months due to my new job, and due to experimenting, I've been finding many formulas and different ways to use them, but my knowledge is still very limited. For example, let us suppose I have two columns, in one I have the number of a particular document, and in the next one I have the number of the check that paid that document. Now, some documents have been paid by more than one check. How can I use a vlookup or an hlookup and have them find all the checks that pay a particular document, instead of having it only find the first one? Another thing I'd like to learn is related to working with SQL queries. The queries I work with cannot be meddled with, because if I do, I can no longer update them. So, I've got to copy-paste the information into another tab - and even then, sometimes Excel assumes that's a new SQL query and my document ends screwed up. Is there a way to make it so that in the new tab, certain cells will only show information pertaining certain data? For example, in the SQL query I can have info about... say, candies, soda, bread, and other types of grocery in addition to information related to those things like prices, suppliers, costs and other things. So, is there a way I can make it so that in the new tab I can have Excel separate the information by the type of product, whilst having Excel take all the related values (price, cost, supplier, etc) - and having that info automatically updated as I update the original SQL query? Thanks in advance.

Answer:
on the 1st question. you can "sort" your data by check number. that will put everything together by check# you might want to turn on the "autofilter". another thing you might be able to do is use a "pivot table" its more flexible. go to youtube any type the words i put in quotes...along with the word Excel and you will get good video examples. no clue on the SQL
