If you want to play them in a DVD player then you're going to have to convert the avi/mpeg files to specific DVD files and then burn them onto DVD-R; unless your DVD player has got a facility to play MP3's etc. in which case you just burn them onto a DVD-R or CD-R like normal and insert them into the DVD player.
