  • Answer:

If are using Windows 7, all you have to do is type System Restore, or even just restore in the Start Menu search area, and the the option comes. If you are using Windows XP -------------------------- From Microsoft -------------------------- To use System Restore to restore Windows XP to a previous state, follow these steps: 1. Log on to Windows as Administrator. 2. Click Start, point to All Programs, point to Accessories, point to System Tools, and then click System Restore. System Restore starts. 3. On the Welcome to System Restore page, click Restore my computer to an earlier time (if it is not already selected), and then click Next. 4. On the Select a Restore Point page, click the most recent system restore point in the On this list, click a restore point list, and then click Next. Note A System Restore message may appear that lists configuration changes that System Restore will make. Click OK. 5. On the Confirm Restore Point Selection page, click Next. System Restore restores the previous Windows XP configuration, and then restarts the computer. 6. Log on to the computer as Administrator. The System Restore Restoration Complete page is displayed. 7. Click OK. If you successfully restored your computer to a previous state, and the computer is performing as it should be, you are finished. ------------------- I HIGHLY recommend Norton Ghost for doing system restores. It replicates everything on your computer back to the exact state things were, unlike Windows' System Restore which does not. To use Ghost, you would need to partition your hard drive to save the images there, or to purchase an additional internal or external hard drive or other recordable media such as DVD recordable, etc. see: http://www.symantec.com/norton/ghost To use Ghost effectively, you much "Ghost" your drive when it is at the ideal state, so no matter how you trash your partition or drive with misc garbage, you can go back in history to the ideal state, so long as lthe backup is saved to a safe, recoverable place.

System restore unfortunately does not delete anything. However some viruses may be undone. FOR SYSTEM RESTORE: Click Start, point to All Programs, point to Accessories, point to System Tools, and then click System Restore. System Restore starts. On the Welcome to System Restore page, click Restore my computer to an earlier time (if it is not already selected), and then click Next. On the Select a Restore Point page, click the most recent system restore point in the On this list, click a restore point list, and then click Next. System Restore restores the previous Windows XP configuration, and then restarts the computer. Log on to the computer as Administrator. The System Restore Restoration Complete page is displayed. Click OK.

Man, your computer must have a really bad virus on it, you CAN do a system restore, but it won't get rid of the virus, you will have to buy a backup USB Flash drive, or if you have the money, an external hard drive. You will also need a Backup CD that you can download from your computer, the maker of the computer usually makes it to where your computer has a built in backup. I would contact the manufacturer of your computer, it may be able to get fixed for free, if not, well then I guess you'll just have to reinstall windows.

Will-i-am

I plug Avira for everyone who has a virus that is hard to get rid of. Go to http://avira.com/download click on the free download then download now another window will pop up click on download now again, an info bar will open up click on that then click on download now. Then continue to install avira. But if you want to still use your restore, click on start, control pannel, back up and restore, click on restore, wait for it to do it's thing, then pick the restore point or click on pick another restore point. Go beyond 5 days if need, there is an option for that right there.
