What is Icatch PC? How did it install in my pc?

Can you install Win Xp Pro Sp2 on a PC and then install it on another* > read..?

  • Can you install Win Xp Pro Sp2 on a PC and after getting a new PC install the Win on the new one and formatting the old PC's HDD. Would the OS be treated as an illegal copy? P.S- I'm not trying to get anyone's original Win Cd-Rom..

    yes it is legal as long as you have 1 PC and 1 license you are fine you just cannot have the same license installed on more than one PC think of it like a license plate on a car, you can move it from car to car, but you cannot have it on 2 cars at the same time legally

it wouldn't be illegal, but it's not very likely your copy of windows xp pro sp2 is a legal copy to begin with - sounds more like a cracked 2600 build version to me. the reason i say this is, the 'professional' versions of windows cost alot more than the 'home' versions and home users very rarely have the kind of cash to go for the professional version for the sake of very noticeable advantages. if it is a genuine copy, bought from a store in a box, with an original license key, you will need to re-activate your copy with microsoft to account for the hardware of the new machine. at this point leaving windows xp on the old machine would be the problem when it 'phones home' to microsoft and they suss you've the same copy running on two machines. the rule of thumb is; 1 serial number, 1 computer - and since genuine versions of windows need to be activated by contacting microsoft there is no way around it without breaking the law. if this answered your question, don't forget to 'accept' it.

That it's not illegal. Every Windows XP Home version can install on maximum 5 computers with same serial number. Contact microsoft for more details.

Thats illegal. Each PC requires its own copy and license. You can't put one license on more than one PC.
