What are some jobs that use 3D modeling?

What kind of 3D modeling programs do game developers use?

  • I'd like to know what 3D animation/modeling programs game developers use. ( or what other programms ? o: ) I want to learn how to model like them and how to animate. Please dont start stuff like "If you want to make a game you need to learn how to programm etc. etc." I'm working on that, but just for fun, 8D Thanks in advance <3

    Sounds to me like your more interested in Computer animation then game design... Nevertheless...they use many softwares, for example they can model something in...say blender (http://www.blender.org/) it's free if im not mistaking, and then export that file and bring it into the game engine.. But the industry Standard for games is usually "Autodesk 3ds Max" (base on my understanding, and it export well into game engines...Still whichever software your best at is good)..and most of the other 3d applz are well used also. It really depends on the engine they're using. Some systems use proprietary formats (because of either engine constraints or because the graphics are very high in detail). But for mid-end games, many developers will use maya or solidworks (depending on the type of entity you're making) and then the engine is used to animate them and play the correct sequences.
