Word cannot complete the save due to a file permission error?

Microsoft Word is not letting me save. HELLPP!!!?

• Whenever i try to save any changes to my coursework file, it doesn't let me. I open the file, add the work to the file then click the save icon, and a save as box appears, i put in a destination but then the directory will be created and a icon will appear in say my desktop (or wherever i saved it to) but the "loading bar" at the bottom right doesn't fill up and there's no error message or sounds and another box will appear asking for exactly the same thing. I've tried: copying and pasting everything onto a fresh doc but that doesn't work and clearing out my clipboard before i save. the file seems to save in PDF format, however it isn't very useful to me in this form as i have to convert it every time i want to do my work. im having to save any work i do all in separate word docs which is really annoying when it comes to handing it in. could someone PLEASE HELP!

  Are you using a genuine copy of MS Word or did you rip it off?
