What is Digital Design?

My boss wants me to help him design a Digital Menu Board for his restaurant. HELP on what software to use!!!?

I working as a delivery driver in a Chinese restaurant and my boss wants a digital menu board system to be installed but does NOT want to use a service because he thinks they will charge too much. I am tech savvy and can set everything up but i only have one issue. I can't find any specialized software to do this with, so as of right now I'm making a digital menu board on Keynote for mac, but i want more specialized software. I WOULD REALLY APPRECIATE ALL ANSWERS!
