Is Windows Messanger and MSN Messanger the same thing?

Windows Live Messanger Freezes????

I had the other msn before this but one day i tried signing in and it signed me in but then it would freeze. I was told to update it so i did. I downloaded the new Windows Live Messanger. But it does the same thing. Everytime i sign in it freezes. I have no viruses i did a scan. Some people tell me to do a Regestry clean up but i dont know what to delete?? I am very confused... can someone explain what to do please. Thank-you

Windows Live Messenger is still in beta (not that any MS program ever really isn't beta, but when they label it beta, it's normally far from ready for use). It cannot be expected to be stable. If it consistently gives you problems, go to the Windows Live website and see if there is a newer version available, and if there is, install that. Alternatively, uninstall it, and go back to MSN Messenger. It'll still be unstable, but atleast it'll work 90% of the time.

Windows Live Messanger is just a beta version, it may not work all the time, I reconmend just restarting your computer.

go to start run type regedit then go to hkey current user and hkey local machine go under software on both of them any programs you lately uninstalled you can remove also delete any folders of programs you have uninstalled in my computer> local disk>program files
