How to telnet from remote server?

Free telnet server?

  • I want a free telnet server for xp that lets people telnet to my computer and I choose what happens... like I a telneted to a site (i forgot the name and it showed me a text vesion of starwars episode four movie.Or when i telneted to a place and it gave me readme options or login options.

windows xp already comes with a built in telnet server but it only allows one session (i could be wrong here, you will need to check) just enable the telnet server from services(my computer right click -> manage -> services section). make sure the startup type for the service is set to automatic and you should be allowed to telnet to your machine from some other machine using the ip address or name. however, let me be the first to tell you that telnet is considered quite insecure since it transmits all messages including passwords in open text. try installing a free sshd server by following instructions located at the link below. it will be quite a lengthy and tedious installation.
