How to create a boot CD from an already burned one?

Ubuntu Live CD doesn't boot. Goes black, stops.?

  • Essentially, this is what happens: I made the LiveCD by using infraRecorder with the ISO provided on the Ubuntu website. I opened it up in windows explorer, the files were burned as seperate files, NOT as the ISO. I restart the PC. I go into BIOS, set the primary boot drive to E:, the DVD player/writer where the CD is located. Something about booting isoLinux scrolls through, and then a small battery-looking icon with an equals sign and a person in a circle. so it looked like: |:::::|::| = (>'<) Then the screen goes dark, Then a rapidly blinking cursor shows up. Momentary. Unresponsive. Then the screen goes blank again And then the screen says "No Signal" And then the screen goes into standby mode. And then nothing happens. And then I went here. So, my question to you, O yahoo answers, is how does one fix this? I'd like to be able to use Ubuntu. I am otherwise running 32-bit windows Vista on: 2G ddr2 AMD Sempron LE-1250 2.2Ghz 2 monitors on an nVidia 9500 graphics adapter.

  • Answer:

the first thing you have to do is burn another CD as an iso file. That is the only way it will boot and run. Otherwise it will not work. Nothing wrong with your PC, it just has to be burned as an iso file.

http://download.cnet.com/PowerISO/3000-2646_4-10439118.html?tag=mncol Use powerISO to burn the image directly to the CD-R or get a flash drive and use unetbootin. Also, ubuntu is poo. http://linuxmint.com/ Linux Mint is better, get their ISO and use that. Also they have installation instructions within the .pdf located on the download page in case mine aren't good enough.

Disconnect one of the monitors. If you download the 64bit version it will not work.
