How do I burn my pictures on to a DVD-r disc?

How can i burn an .avi movie file to a dvdr blank disc?

• i need software for converting and burning, i don't want to have to worry about fees or registering or any hassling junk. Lol someone please just help me burn my dvds. thanks!

  “Off the top of my head, my first guess would be you’re inserting DVD-R media in a drive that can only read/burn DVD+R media, but that’s just a guess. You could also be inserting into a CD/DVD-ROM drive, neither of which has burning capabilities. Go here http://www.nero.com/enu/support-nero8-tools-utilities.html and download Nero Info Tool (second 'More Details and Download'), and unzip it, insert the offending disc into the drive, and run it. This should tell the characteristics of the drive (what it can read and write), as well as any information on the disc if it can read it at all. If you have the right type of media with the right type of drive, I don’t know what to suggest. 1. Try different media. Oddly, different brands of media sometimes work better. If you have a multi drive, maybe try +R media. 2. Get a DVD lens cleaning kit 3. Get a firmware update for your drive. Don’t try this unless you really know what you’re doing."
