Why am I unable to open some links in Internet Explorer?

How to open yahoo messenger links in Firefox instead of Internet Explorer in Windows Vista Ultimate?

  • Hello, i know something similar has already been discussed at http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=AtJU0XQ51yQMZRIRPNG3ND1IzKIX;_ylv=3?qid=20070709064919AAt00Ix but that does NOT work (at least for me) in Vista Ultimate. i have the latest Yahoo Messenger version 8.1.0.416, and this is what i have already done: 1) enabled firefox options so firefox is always set as my default browser 2) went to control panel > default programs, and checked that firefox is the default browser 3) restarted computer and still nothing! whenever i click on any link inside yahoo messenger (be it tray email notification or any link in ordinary chat windows), links will always open in Internet Explorer 7 rather than Firefox. anyone else been through this? its kinda driving me crazy, because i work in Firefox and want all yahoo messenger links be opened in Firefox as well, not IE7. appreciate all available help

  • Answer:

The following worked for me: # Click the Start menu # Click Default Programs # Click “Set program access and computer deaults” # Select Custom then click on the drop arrow # Look for “Choose a default web browser” and select Mozilla Firefox
