When I convert a .pptx to .ppt, will the powerpoint presentation still work ok?

I have to make a powerpoint on something for school, but I have a problem. I use Office 2007, but my school only has Office 2004 for Mac. When I create a presentation, it will save in the .pptx file format. If I use a file converter to convert it to .ppt, will my presentation still work fine?

Using some 3rd party presentation to transfer your ppt presentation to flash.
