How to move up/down multiple rows?

All my data is off by 2 rows in Microsoft Excel, is there a way to move all the data w/o starting over?

  • I made a fairly large spreadsheet with Microsoft Excel 2007. However when doing my row headings they are all off by one row. I've got A4-A32 and it needs to be A5-A33, how can I move them all down one without having to type the whole thing over?

    Using the INSERT Row, at the row where you wish one extra row to be added above it, will do the trick. Or you can select all of your cells with data in them, use the CUT, and then just PASTE all that one row lower. But either of these will have problems if you used any formulas that have Absolute references, as opposed to Relative references. (Absolute references are those that have a dollar-sign "$" preceding either the column and/or row indicator.)

Easy peasy, just select/highlight all your data, get mouse pointer onto outside border - not a corner, your mouse pointer changes to a small black cross or add sign and then all you do is simply drag down - so either get your mouse pointer on top border or bottom border.

1. Make a backup copy of your file (redundant I know) 2. Select row 4, then Insert row. Your formulas should auto-correct that way.

highlight A4-A32. Right click menu->Copy. Place cursor in A5 right-click menu past. Place cursor in A4; delete-key.
